Proverb of the day
Proverb of the day: Your tongue is your horse; if you respect it, it will respect you; and if you humiliate it, it will humiliate you
لسانكحصانك ان صنته صانك و ان هنته هانك
Lesanakhosanak, ensontusanak wen hentuhanak
Translation: Your tongue is your horse; if you respect it, it will respect you; and if you humiliate it, it will humiliate you.
Meaning: Be careful what you say, or you may suffer the consequences. The equine metaphor in this proverb suggests an Arabian or at least Bedouin provenance. Educators are fond of this particular saying due not only to the content but to the easily-memorised rhyme.
